Its mission is to advance the mineral industry by promoting the exchange of scientific, technical and environmental knowledge. The Sim provides a forum where industry professionals, researchers, academics and students can share expertise, discuss emerging challenges and contribute to the sector's development.
Through its extensive network of regional districts and specialist committees, the organization delivers a wide range of technical events throughout the year, including conferences, seminars, webinars and site visits. These activities address major industry topics such as innovation, health and safety, environmental performance, energy transition, circular economy, mineral resource management, and advances in mining and processing technologies.
The organization also contributes to the dissemination of technical knowledge through its leading industry publications, including mines & carrières and Recyclage & Valorisation, as well as a catalogue of technical books and reference works for professionals.
Its flagship event is the Annual Congress & Exhibition, one of the leading gatherings for the French mineral industry. Each year, it brings together hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of participants for technical conferences, business meetings, networking opportunities and site visits. The event also highlights innovation, emerging companies and young professionals, while promoting sustainable development and the long-term competitiveness of the sector.
